Eger

To add onto Rachels post, Hungarian parks are so much better than American ones. I will add some pictures when we get back. They do not celebrate pi day, though i think they enjoyed ours. They eat french fries with a fork. They make lunch at school instead of having it delivered frozen. And it is neccessary to blow dry your hair.

So my day today, I went to Eger with Naussicaa and our students and their mothers. It took a little over an hour to get there, but the drive was really beautiful. We drove through many small vilages and through winding streets through the hills. When we got to Eger we went to see the castle, which was much bigger than the one we saw together in Slovakia. It had its own Church and secret passageways. In when looking out you could see the town of Eger, which as i understand is a very old town and is a traditional Hungarian town. We went into the wax museum in the castle, where there were some very real looking life size wax figures that had veins and everything. When we came out we ran into Mr Oroark, Mr Karafiol, and Ms Folk, who were also visiting the castle.

We went out to lunch at a Hungarian style restaurant where the French Onion soup that Gabi ordered was yellow. But it tasted really good. We also learned that Fried Potatoes means French Fries

After lunch we drove somewhere, which i assume was the center of the town. We saw the town square and walked around, where we ran into Alex, the teachers again, and Eric. We stopped for cake somewhere, and it was really good, and cheaper than in the US. My piece was only 170 Forints, which is one dollar. Eger was a really nice town.

When we were driving back tonight, I dont know exactly where we were, but i think it was about 15 minutes from Salgotarjan, or car and Gabis car got pulled over by these men with flashlights wearing border patrol bright green vests. I couldnt tell exactly what was going on, but i think they handed the men their liscence and something else. When i asked Judit she said its something they do routinley, but i still dont really know what it was. Or what border we were at. Maybe it was between counties, but i have no idea.

it was nothing special like that, they are just checking if the driver has a licence, is not drunk and such. routine.
